Quiet Quitting Among Young Lawyers in Nigeria: Trends, Causes and Recommendations

"Quiet quitting," is a phrase that has been used to describe situations where employees put in only the minimal efforts required to perform the functions assigned to them or required of them. It should be noted that “quite quitting” has become a pervading issue not only in Nigeria but in many countries of the world and in different professions, but the scope of this paper is on how the legal profession in Nigeria is impacted by it. “Quiet quitting” has not only led to brain drain in Nigeria but has adversely affected the quality of legal and intellectual output especially among young lawyers. The doctrinal research methodology approach was adopted, relying on write ups from scholars in the field, statutes and other relevant materials. The objective of this paper was to do an expository of the issue of “quiet quitting” among young lawyers and proffer solutions to stem the tide. This work found out that “quiet quitting among young lawyers is majorly linked to job satisfaction and has to be immediately tackled. It recommended mentorship, flexible work timing, supportive work place culture and realistic workloads as a means of tackling quiet quitting in Nigeria
