About the Journal
The Ebonyi State University Law Journal (EBSU L.J.) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Law, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Nigeria. The journal publishes well-researched papers in all fields of law biannually – June and December. The Editorial Board of the journal invite authors to submit manuscripts that adhere to the following guidelines.
1) Length of paper: Paper submissions should not exceed 10,000 words including footnotes. Book/case review should not exceed 7000 words.
2) Reference Style: All paper submissions must adhere to the NALT Uniform Citation Guide available at: https://www.naulawreview.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Part-II-NALT-STYLE-GUIDE-2.pdf
3) Font style and size: All submissions should use the Times New Roman fonts (12 font size) except the footnote, which should use 10 font size Times New Roman. The manuscript should be formatted using 1.5 line spacing.
4) Abstract: Manuscripts must contain an abstract of not more than 200 words, which explains the content of the paper. The abstract must be expressed in past tense and should adopt the following format: brief description of the background of the research; brief explanation of the research problem/objectives of the paper; explanation of the research methods adopted; explanation of the findings, conclusion and recommendations.
5) Keywords: Manuscripts should contain at least five keywords (not more than seven keywords) for indexing purposes. This should be inserted immediately after the abstract.
6) Introduction: Paper submissions must contain an introduction, which should reveal the research problem the paper intends to investigate, the thesis statement (central issue/question to be resolved) and the roadmap explaining the step-by-step (section-by-section) process of resolving the problem. If the paper utilises non-doctrinal methods, these should be clearly explained in the introduction.
7) Conclusion: Manuscripts must contain a conclusion section, which explains the findings of the paper and how the research problem was resolved. Where necessary, the conclusion should also contain the recommendations.
8) It is the responsibility of authors to ensure that manuscripts do not infringe copyright of others. All submissions will undergo peer review and plagiarism check.
9) The journal has both hardcopy and online copy versions.
